Announcement of a Ban on Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Smartphone Devices from Air Transportation in China
It has been noticed that a Samsung Galaxy Note7 Smartphone may cause a hazard of ignition or abnormal evolution of heat which may pose a risk of in-flight fire. As of 11 of October, there have been more than 20 incidents of overheat or fire caused by the device all over mainland China. In order to ensure safe air transport, a ban on Samsung Galaxy Note7 devices from air transportation has been issued as follows:
1. Passengers or crew members who own or possess a Samsung Galaxy Note7 device shall not transport the device on their person or in carry-on baggage;
2. Passengers or crew members shall not transport the device in checked baggage on flights;
3. Samsung Galaxy Note7 device also cannot be shipped as air cargo.
4. Public air transport operators and ground service providers, airline sale agents shall take effective means to notify all their customers of this announcement during ticket booking, check-in, cargo acceptance and etc.
This Announcement will be effective on October 27th, 2016.
